Best intentions
Fri Feb 03, 2012 1:07 am
I don't know how many people read this, and I get the feeling that I am disliked more than a little in this group, but here goes.
I have recently found out that many things I do are actually harmful. Magick, mysticism, trance and deep trance, and "enlightenment, liberation and teaching" drugs can cause depression, brain damage, and in some cases obsession and death.
Do you ever find yourself trying to empower yourself and think you are succeeding only to find you were shooting yourself in the foot?

I don't think you're disliked, but then again I haven't been around here long enough to make that judgement.
I believe that there are various pros and cons, if you will, to exploring different avenues of magick and mysticism. The exploration by achieving alternate forms of consciousness through the use of chemical substances can have its place among the aforementioned avenues, but it is a delicate path and can be the trigger for a descent into addiction and the destruction ensues.
Some sage advice given to me by a close friend:
"Be realistic and exquisitely mindful of that which you choose, for our choices forever become our companions, as a blessing or an imprecation.
